UNDRR Africa Youth Art Competition 2024 for Young Artists

Calling All Young African Artists: Enter the 2024 UNDRR Africa Youth Art Competition!

Are you a young artist with a passion for creativity and a desire to make a difference? The 2024 UNDRR Africa Youth Art Competition is now open for applications, offering a unique opportunity for young talents across Africa to showcase their artistic skills and raise awareness about Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, this competition invites you to submit a piece that aligns with the 2024 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) theme.

Why Participate?

Your artwork won’t just be another piece on a wall; it will be a powerful message displayed at the Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (AfRP) in Windhoek, Namibia, from October 21-24, 2024. This is more than just a competition—it’s a chance to have your voice heard on a continental stage and to contribute to a resilient future for Africa.

About the Competition

The Africa Youth Advisory Board on Disaster Risk Reduction (AYAB), the Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM), and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) have joined forces to create this competition. Their goal is to enhance awareness and understanding of DRR among young people, while also fostering creativity and artistic expression. This initiative seeks to highlight the talents, voices, and unique perspectives of young African artists, inspiring action and community engagement in DRR efforts.

Theme: “Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future”

Artists are encouraged to explore and express various aspects of Disaster Risk Reduction that resonate with the AfRP theme: “Act Now for the Resilient Africa We Want.” This is your chance to creatively respond to the challenges Africa faces and to empower your generation in the fight for a safer, more resilient continent.
